Giving Thanks!!

Here in the US tomorrow is Thanksgiving, a day where we celebrate all that we are thankful for.
Michele here today and I have A LOT of things to be thankful for!!!  My family, hugs from my nieces, friends, my job...all the usual stuff,  but I always find that no matter how much I appreciate all of these things I never find the time to put into words exactly what some special people mean to me.  This year, like I have for the last couple of years, I made some cards so I could hand write notes to them.

Today I am going to share a couple of these cards I made.

These pumpkins are cut with Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers, covered in a thick layer of gesso and then painted with glaze.  I sprinkled some clear glitter for a little texture.  I embellished with twine, wire and UmWow Studio leaf confetti.

These acorns are also cut with the TH dies, covered in gesso and painted.  The gold is crackle paint and adds some amazing texture.  I also added some of the UWS leaf confetti and May Arts burlap twine.

On this card I used the UWS layered pumpkin chip.  These are painted with Distress paint and sprinkled with clear glitter.

All of these cards are kraft card bases with Heidi Swap paper.  The 'i am thankful' stamp is from Unity.

Thanks for stopping by today!
I am thankful for your support and comments!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I'm just stopping in to share a pretty little pumpkin that I created using some Bazzill Basics Cardstock and Mod Podge!

But this is the pumpkin I started with:

And after a lot of Mod Podge and bit of ink, Flowers & Bling. This is what I ended up with.

But really its was a simple idea. The plan was to cover the pumpkin with paper easy right?? Yep just like wrapping a ball for Christmas!

SWAT Love!

Happy Hump Day!!

Hi! Venetia here to share some Wednesday love! I wanted to make a canvas to decorate the kitchen, and take a new spin on the Est. YYYY plaques that are popular right now.

This is a simple project to recreate. The background is a single 12x12 patterned paper, and the letters are cut from a "Little Black Dress" from Basic Grey. Any collection kit would work; I wanted a neutral feel. I decoupaged everything to a canvas.

For your Wednesday, I challenge you to share something you love on the SWAT Facebook page! Instead of Oprah being the only one sharing her favorite things, put your two cents in!

Happy Wednesday, you're almost to the weekend (and a short week for our US friends!)

Thanks for stopping in today see you Saturday!

{THANKS giving blocks}

Guess what day it is ....

That's right

** HUMP DAY **

and here at SWAT, we like to showcase a project in the middle of the week to get you over the hump and crafting like crazy until the next project/challenge is posted.

I made this after seeing a friend’s post last year.  She showcased her Thanks Giving blocks and Jingle All The Way blocks and I knew that this was a project that would be downright fun to create along with some variations.  I did "Thanks Giving" on one side of the blocks and "Jingle All The Way" - but then I also created another two sets for my sister’s family and for my brother’s family.

I used "FAMILY" for the opposite side of "THANKS" and then instead of "Giving" - I put their last names.
Here's a photo of the work in progress:

Now, I don't own any fancy lettering machines, die cuts or anything of that sort ... I did hand lettering!  Yup.  You can do it too!

I love these blocks and I keep thinking that I should have my honey cut more wood blocks so that I can make more sets for our close friends.

Have a Happy HUMP DAAAY!

Deborah

Basic Training

HAPPY Saturday
 &
Welcome to November's

Basic Training!

Today we are going to talk about stamping with gesso...I absolutely love interesting ways to create backgrounds and using gesso is a FAV.  Combine this technique with one of my 'go to' background stamps and now we're talking!!

I used my VLVS! chicken wire stamp for my tag.

I use my finger to spread the gesso on my stamp.

You don't have to be neat about it but make sure you get gesso on the raised part of your stamp.

Then stamp your surface quickly but firmly.
You can either wait for the gesso to air dry or hit it with your heat gun but the gesso has to be completely dry to continue.

I used mist to add color to my tag, 5 different colors to be exact.

Then dabbed off the excess with a paper towel.  Make sure you use your heat gun to dry between each color so you get the richness of each one.

Then I did some distressing, stamping with ink and some splattering to complete my background.  Don't you just love all of the layers??  And the depth the gesso offers?!

And VIOLA, here is the finished tag.
Thank you so much for sharing part of you day with me, til next month...get INKY often!!
